White Hat SEO:

  • Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good practice is whether you’d feel comfortable describing what you’ve done to a website that competes with you, or to a Google employee. Another effective test is to ask, “Does this help my audiences? 
  • Makes your website unique, valuable, or engaging, Make your website stand out in your field.
Google also explains that site owners who uphold “the spirit of the basic principles” will see better rankings than those who use deceptive practices.

So as long as you keep your visitors in mind as you work on your site and make changes with the goal of providing them with a better browsing experience, you can be confident that your SEO strategy is in line with Google’s guidelines.

Black Hat SEO:

While Google’s recommendations for the types of strategies you should be using are a bit general and refer to the “spirit” behind the changes, they’re much more straightforward about the tactics you shouldn’t be using.

  • Automatically generated content
  • Participating in link schemes
  • Creating pages with little or no original content
  • Cloaking
  • Sneaky redirects
  • Hidden text or links
  • Doorway pages
  • Scraped content
  • Participating in affiliate programs without adding sufficient value
  • Loading pages with irrelevant keywords
  • Creating pages with spiteful behavior, such as phishing or installing viruses, trojans, or other badware
  • Abusing rich snippets markup
  • Sending automated queries to Google

Conclusion:

Black hat SEO may increase your website rank fast but after some time it will affect your ranking because the tactics followed by Black hat SEO are illegal and against SE guidelines. 

So, it is better to create valuable and high-quality content and do white hat SEO because it follows SE guidelines and it attracts users, and one day your ranking will increase.
